Hey Caiqi!
This is just a note to let you know that we've moved your account to a new server!
What does this mean to you? Hopefully nothing! PLEASE READ THIS FULL MESSAGE though,
as it may help you fix any problems that come up as a result of the move.
Listed below is a list of the more common problems we're seeing after customers
are moved to their new server. Please make sure you've made the relevant changes
below before contacting DreamHost support to investigate it further for you:
DOMAINS:
If a website isn't working, please make sure you don't have anything like
"/home/.SOMETHING/username" in any of your sites' scripts. Instead, it should
just be "/home/username". If your site brings up an error with something
between /home/ and /username/, then the path in one of your configuration
files is incorrect and will need to be updated. If you don't know how to
do this, please contact us and we'll be happy to assist you with it!
If you run your own DNS outside of DreamHost (you're some kind of expert!)
you'll need to update your records to match the ones on the 'DNS' link under
the 'Manage Domains' section of your panel.
If you built your own custom PHP (or php.ini), it may break from this move
(if your old server was 32bit)! Unfortunately, this isn't something we
can help you troubleshoot, but you'll just need to rebuild your custom php
(or php.ini) again.
EMAIL:
If an email address isn't working, please make sure you're logging in with the FULL
EMAIL ADDRESS as your username (and not something like m########). Also make sure you're
using mail.yourdomain.com for your mail servers, and not anything with "dreamhost.com"
in it! For webmail, you'll need to use http://WEBmail.yourdomain.com.
If you had an email .procmail (filtering) or .forward (forwarding) file that isn't working,
you should be able to easily fix that up just using our web panel's "Mail" section! Just
go to the 'Email Filters' sub-section and setup a new filter to 'Forward mail to a shell account".
You will also notice that any quotas you may have had before are no longer being applied/calculated.
Don't worry, it's a positive side effect of having unlimited disk space!
FTP:
If you are using your server name (server.dreamhost.com) as your FTP hostname, be sure
to change that to your domain name (domain.com). The domain name will always point to
the correct server in the event that it is changed again in the future. If for some
reason you can't use your domain name, you can find the name of your new server under
the 'Manage Account' section of your web panel.
That's it really.. and we really apologize for the abrupt nature of this move!
Thanks!
